ABOUT ME
</aside>
Hi, I’m Kyra! I am an in-home positive reinforcement dog trainer, focusing on private sessions to help you live a better life with your dog. I am a Fear Free Certified Professional and also hold the Fear Free Shelters Certification. I am working to become a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) by acquiring 300+ hours of training and will complete the CPDT exam this fall! I have experience in reactivity, anxiety, overarousal and attention-seeking behaviors, dog-to-dog interactions, dog-to-cat interactions, and more!
Some of my favorite things to train with animals include cooperative care techniques for veterinary and grooming care, reducing jumpy/mouthy behaviors, developing leash manners, helping dogs and cats coexist peacefully and happily in the home, and training fun tricks, but I’m always up to learn something new! I have two pets of my own: a 13 year old cat named Tater and a 6 year old XL bully named Baby.
I believe that life with a dog should be fun, enjoyable, and rewarding. But sometimes, our dogs experience difficult emotions and challenging behaviors that make life just a little more complicated for both you and your dog. I’m here to help your dog feel better, and in turn, get you back to that fun and rewarding life with your pup. I recognize that all dogs are individuals, which is why I focus on one-on-one private sessions with clients to ensure that each step we take works best for your dog as a unique individual. I find that one-on-one work can be so rewarding, because we get to build a strong relationship and watch your dog transform over time — the moment something clicks for your dog is such a rewarding and meaningful moment for all of us.
Are you ready to live a better life with your dog? Sign up for a free consultation below, or reach out to me by email or phone (listed at the bottom of the page).

MY METHODS
</aside>
- We’ll start with a free consultation where I can determine your dog’s training needs and identify any behavioral issues.
- I’ll create a training plan that we will follow in subsequent sessions.
- The training plan will include my focus each time I see your dog, exercises that we will practice with your dog and how you can implement them yourself outside of our sessions, and arrangements to make in your home to ensure your dog’s success.
- We will rule out underlying wellness concerns and changing things in the home that may be encouraging your dog’s negative behavior first. Then, we’ll use positive reinforcement to train desired behaviors. We can also implement substitute behaviors to reward your dog for choosing to do instead of an undesired behavior. We will always give the dog a choice and reward them for the choice we want them to make. I will not use aversive tools or punishment.
- As we move through sessions, you may be asked to practice these skills on your own between visits.
- I am always happy to extend our training plan if we haven’t achieved the progress you are hoping to see!
